Traditional Christmas Pudding:

Traditional Christmas pudding is a dessert traditionally served in Christmas dinners all over the world. Different nationalities celebrate Christmas with their own tradition and own ritual. Especially in the UK and some parts of Europe have this tradition to serve the Christmas pudding in dinner.

Mix dry fruits soaked in rum a month before, and bake at a medium temperature and soft in texture. In India also we celebrate Christmas in different traditions but in most of the hospitality industry, we serve Traditional Christmas Pudding on Christmas Eve.

Ingredients:

Soaked Dry Fruits

Red cherries: 50 gm

Candied fruit: 50 gm

Dry Raisins: 50 gm

Black Raisins: 50 gm

Orange rind: 1 Tbsp

Apricot: 50 gm

Rum: 125 ml

Butter: 250 gm

Brown sugar: 300gm

Fresh Eggs: 5 nos

Vanilla essence: 1 tsp

All purpose flour: 300 gm

Baking Soda: 1/2 tsp

Baking Powder: 1 tsp

Baking Temperature: 175°C

Time: 45 to 50 minutes

Method Christmas Pudding:

The method of the pudding is butter method same as the method of Vanilla Pound Cake.

  1. Roughly chopped all the dry fruits and mixed them.

  2. Take a bowl and put all the dry fruits orange rind and add rum in this and soak for at least 6 to 8 hours.

  3. The more you will soak the dry fruits in rum the more flavored Christmas Pudding you will get.

  4. Take a mixing bowl put a semi-soft butter and beat it till the butter gets smooth.

  5. Add brown sugar to the butter and beat the mixture until the butter becomes fluffy.

  6. Scrap the mixture from sides and start to add the fresh egg one by one, vanilla essence, and mix it nicely. Never put the fresh eggs all together otherwise the mixture can be curdled.

  7. Meanwhile, preheat the oven at 175°C and sieve the All-purpose flour, baking soda, and baking powder, and grease the cake mold.

  8. Add flour to the butter mixture and mix it nicely.

  9. In the last add, the soaked rum-flavored dry fruits in the mixture and mix it properly

  10. Place the mixture in the greased cake mold and bake the Christmas pudding at 175°C for 45 to 50 minutes.

  11. Once the cake is ready remove it from the oven check with the toothpick or by the tip of the knife.

  12. Make it cold in 1 to 2 hours and served with confectioner sugar on the top or gift to your relatives in traditional style a tasty and fresh rum-flavored Traditional Christmas Pudding.
